I have successfully migrated program files to different drives before so if I cant boot to my SSD I will just boot to the HDD and move program files to the NVMe drive. I have legitimate uses for this machine and it is plenty powerful enough to do what I need. Yeah yeah I know I should just go buy newer hardware. I had a 970 Evo drive in a PCIe adapter laying around which I also tried with all of the same results. I have also tried several different "Migrate your OS to a different drive" programs while booted to a fully functioning version of windows 10 on a sata interfaced drive.

This action prompts the "no bootable drives detected" screen. the last thing I tried was to remove the USB Winows installation media precisely when the machine rebooted after installing windows. I proved that this machine can boot to UEFI from the onboard sata controller AND from the raid card that comes with most of these machines. It was a while ago but I remember attempting that without luck. I was under the impression that you cannot boot to NVMe drives with MBR/Legacy settings. In other words it will keep booting from the USB even if WINDOWS BOOT MANAGER is set as a higher priority in the boot order. Every time I attempt a clean install under UEFI I end up in a boot loop with the USB. I have a Windows 10 ISO installation USB that is as current as can be and I can boot to that in Legacy or UEFI just fine.

I am at the end of my rope attempting to get a Sandy Bridge T3600 Workstation to boot to an NVMe SSD.
